Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She was among the youngest and the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons Shield she's had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live on stage and also be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was one of the Indian young sitar star. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her early years were spent between London in London and New Delhi. When she was only 13, her first show was in New Delhi took place. In the following years she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Although she is still very young Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. She has been performing with her father in the stage for a long time. In 1998, she released her first solo album Anourag. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka's career goes beyond the realm of music. She published Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka's career is still developing and she is expected to accomplish many amazing things in the near future. Anoushka Shankar is a British native who lived her early days between London, Delhi and California. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration, Anoushka made her debut performing the sitar in front of the audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Her father traveled around the world with her and she was able to gain many new opportunities. While still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. In recognition of being a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
